It’s time again to spread the holiday cheer with Santa, lights, treats, and floats


Commerce Christmas Parade

The Commerce Christmas Parade began at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2 on Main Street.

Miami Christmas Parade

Saturday, Dec. 2 at 6 p.m. the Miami Regional Chamber of Commerce presents the annual Christmas Parade on Route 66. Marking its 81st year, the parade theme this will be “A Northpole Christmas” and progress south on Main Street, through downtown and disperse at Second Ave. and South Main. Picher Christmas Parade

The third annual “Coming Home for Christmas” Picher Parade is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2, and likely to draw thousands.

Organized by the Picher Reunion Committee, the parade will start at A St. and lead to 4th St. The Gary Building, previously the Ole Miner Pharmacy, will be open during the parade with Picher Gorilla items such as the new yearly commemorative Christmas ornaments for sale and access to public restrooms. Many historical photos will also be on display.

Free hot chocolate and coffee will be served, and fresh donuts donated by the Miami Wal-Mart will be sold for a dollar to help fund the Picher All School Reunion. Donations will also be accepted at the Gary Building during the event to help build the Picher Memorial.

Quapaw Christmas Parade

Quapaw’s annual Christmas Parade will be held noon on Saturday, Dec. 2 in downtown Quapaw.

Saturday, Dec. 9

Fairland Christmas Parade

The annual Fairland Christmas Parade starts at noon along Hwy. 60 Saturday, Dec. 9 with the theme “North Pole Christmas’. Dec. 2 is the deadline for entries. For more information or to submit an entry, contact Jeff at 918-848-0635 or Misty at 918-541-5295.

Grove Christmas Parade

The Grove Area Chamber of Commerce Annual Lighted Christmas Parade will take place at 6 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 9, in downtown Grove.

Entries will be judged on the best use of lights and the best theme, which is Gingerbread Christmas. All entries will be required to utilize lights. Fees are $10 per entry.

The chamber’s float is the only Santa allowed in the parade. No candy may be thrown from the float.

Jay Christmas Parade

The Jay Christmas Parade, sponsored by the Jay Chamber of Commerce, will take place at 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 9, in Jay. The theme is “Home for the Holidays.” As in the past, the Chamber’s float is the only entry, which may include Santa.

Lineup will take place at 1:30 p.m., on First Street near NAPA. The parade will begin at 2 p.m. No entry form or fee is required, however, if the entry includes animals, please contact the chamber for additional information.

Saturday, Dec. 16

Afton Christmas Parade

Mark the date Saturday, Dec. 16, for the annual Afton Christmas parade. The theme this year is “North Pole Comes To Afton.” The Parade will begin lining up at 4 p.m. at the Afton High School. The parade starts at 5 p.m. There are five categories: Band, Spirit Team/Cheer/Dance, Decorated Vehicle, Float, and Equestrian Team. Entry forms may be picked up at Afton City Hall.

At the conclusion of the parade at 6 p.m., Santa Clause will be at the park to visit with kiddos and pictures. Finally at 6:30 p.m. with the lighting of the town Christmas Tree. There will be hot chocolate, coffee, and treats for all. For more information, call 918-533-4902 or 918-533-1063.
