In 2015, if someone at a bar told you that in 2018 the then 0-12 UCF Knights would be undefeated and vying for a New Year’s Six bowl, while Florida State was in the middle of a losing season, Miami were struggling and Florida was average, you’d laugh it off
Yet, here we are.
Willie Taggart has been an embarrassment to Bobby Bowden, while Dan Mullen and Florida are as average a team as there is in college football. Mark Richt and Miami, however, have been the most disappointing. From their season-opener against LSU, something looked off. From there, quarterback Malik Rosier has only gotten worse.
Mark Richt, a quarterback guy and offensive mind, is seemingly committed to making a bad player like Rosier work at the cost of winning. Talented freshman N’Kosi Perry had his struggles, but he has made some terrific throws. Richt’s stubbornness in not playing him is shocking.
In the end, Richt is struggling mightily with Top 10 recruiting classes, while having the benefit of playing in the weak ACC. That’s inexcusable.
A former Hurricane, Richt better start winning soon. Miami fans are vocal and impatient, and another disappointing season for Richt could be his last in Coral Gables.
