Starting June 1 of next year, LOT Polish Airlines will fly direct from Miami International Airport to the Warsaw Chopin Airport in Poland

Announced Wednesday, the flight will be the only non-stop route from Florida to Poland, expanding on MIA’s 20 other European destinations. This June, Air Italy began nonstop flights to Milan, Italy.

Miami will be one of six U.S. cities offering nonstop flights to Warsaw. Others include New York , Los Angeles and Chicago.

“LOT Polish Airlines is an exciting addition to MIA’s growing roster of international carriers,” said Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez in a statement. “This new connection to Eastern Europe will go a long way toward expanding MIA’s role as a true global gateway.”

LOT will operate four weekly flights on a B787-8 Dreamliner aircraft that seats 252 passengers. Chopin Airport provides more than 350 daily flights to over 100 destinations, many throughout Central and Eastern Europe.

“I am sure that many passengers from Miami will take advantage of our latest offer and fly on our board to Budapest, Prague, Kiev or Tel-aviv,” LOT CEO Rafał Milczarski said in a statement.
