Featuring a concrete foundation measuring 250,000 square feet
With Art Basel a week away from taking over Miami, we thought it’d be timely to check in on the new structures housing the 28th edition of Art Miami and sister fair CONTEXT Art Miami (6th year) this year.
While in previous years the events were held in Midtown, this year’s offering moves to the old Miami Herald site in downtown, located at the bayfront One Herald Plaza (just north of where the MacArthur Causeway hits land).
Earlier this month, Art Miami LLC installed a 250,000-square-foot concrete slab that will serve as the foundation for the city’s longest running contemporary art fair. The new location will feature six hospitality areas, including a waterfront cafe, an indoor cafe, outdoor dining space, a cocktail lounge, and an exterior cocktail deck overlooking the bay.
A transportation area will be set up at the front of the fair allowing for drop-off and pick-up for taxis, shuttle services, and ride-sharing vehicles. Valet parking is offered opening night and there are several garages within a block of the venue totaling 4,000 spots combined.
